Do you use a dedicated carrier for the SSL VPN Gateway?  Print

No, we have opted to multihome the SSL VPN Gateway to maximize reachability and performance to access the VPN.

During the design phase of the server24 VPN we wanted to give our customers flexibility and security for managing their server.

1. Direct to the server over the public Internet.

2. Management using the control panel and customer portal.

3. Indirect to the server over the private network using (SSL) VPN connections.

4. Out-of-band management using KVM-over-IP secured by a VPN connection.

As there are various ways the private network access can be used, incl. remote backups, site-to-site VPN etc., it is important that it is multihomed both for reliability and performance.
